Mr Alistair Ray, Head of Urban Design at Jasmax in NZ joins us this November at the 9th International Urban Design Conference. Alistair will present on the topic of ‘From “City of Cars” to “World’s Most Liveable City” – an ambitious journey!’
Auckland was once described as the “city of cars”, and as having “probably THE worst urban rail system of any city in any developed country in the world”. Yet has now set itself the ambitious target of becoming the “world’s most liveable city”.
This presentation will take a look at how Auckland became so car dependent, will explore some of the projects that are helping to change its reputation, and will conclude by looking at the challenges that lie ahead.
The upcoming 9th International Urban Design Conference will be held at Hyatt Canberra from Monday 7 November to Wednesday 9 November 2016. Joining us are presenters from countries including Australia, China, Denmark, Hong Kong, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States.
