Mr David Tickle, Principal at HASSELL joins us at the upcoming 9th International Urban Design Conference in Canberra and will discuss ‘SuperDensity – A new model of vertical urbanism’.
Many of our global cities face the challenges of urban intensification; balancing considerations of connectivity, affordability and amenity as they absorb wave upon wave of urban migration. This presentation investigates how Hong Kong, an already dense city, might become even more dense.
By understanding the physical, social and environment dimensions that constrain the city’s future growth, it will identify new spatial models for urbanisation. It is necessary to look beyond tall buildings (which play a vital role in providing compact city solutions) to innovative models for all city systems, including vertical streets and spaces, public infrastructure and transportation.
The upcoming 9th International Urban Design Conference will be held at Hyatt Canberra from Monday 7 November to Wednesday 9 November 2016. Joining us are presenters from 7 countries including Australia, China, Denmark, Hong Kong, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States.
